Green glass and brass, for the room that isn't beige

A pressed green glass flower shade on a matching glass base — a candle warmer for people who want colour, not another cream-and-gold lamp.

A telescoping brass-tone pole takes jar candles up to about 15 cm, four brightness levels set how fast the wax melts, and the 2, 4 or 8 hour timer remembers your last setting so you are not choosing again every evening.

Green Glass 4-Level Candle Warmer Lamp

Almost every candle warmer on the market is gold metal and pale wood. It is a handsome combination and it goes with a great many British living rooms, but if yours has green velvet, dark green tiles or a lot of plants, another cream lamp is not what the room needs. This one is pressed green glass top and bottom, with only a slim brass-tone pole between them.

Pressed glass does something clear glass cannot. The moulded pattern in the shade catches the bulb and holds the colour, so even at a low setting the lamp reads as green and warm rather than as a light bulb behind glass. The base is moulded to match, which is unusual — most warmers put a glass shade on a wooden plinth and stop there.

The working parts are straightforward and well judged. The pole telescopes rather than sliding on a collar, so it holds its position properly under the weight of a full jar candle. Four brightness levels control the heat, and the timer offers 2, 4 or 8 hours with a memory function that recalls your last choice — a small convenience that turns out to matter when you are setting it every single evening.

It takes jar candles up to about 15 cm, which covers standard and medium jars and most tins. The very largest three-wick tubs are better suited to one of our 38 cm lamps. At 1.29 kg the glass base gives it a low centre of gravity, so it sits solidly on a shelf and does not shift when you slide a candle underneath.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it really green, or just tinted?

Genuinely green — both the shade and the base are pressed green glass, not clear glass with a coating. It reads as a colour in daylight as well as when lit.

The last photo shows an amber lamp — which am I buying?

The green one. The maker produces the same design in an amber colourway and that photo shows it, so you can see the shape from another angle. If you would prefer amber, message us and we will tell you whether we can source it.

How does a candle warmer lamp work?

A warm bulb above the candle melts the top layer of wax, and the fragrance lifts out of that pool into the room. The wick is never lit, so nothing burns, smokes or leaves soot.

What does the timer memory do?

It recalls the setting you used last, so if you always run it for four hours at half brightness you are not stepping through the options every evening.

How big a candle fits?

Jar candles up to about 15 cm tall. That covers standard and medium jars and most tins. For the very largest three-wick tubs, one of our 38 cm lamps is a better match.

Do the brightness levels change the scent?

Yes, because the bulb is also the heater. Full brightness melts fastest and scents hardest; the lowest setting gives a soft glow and a slow release.

Does the candle get used up?

Very slowly. Nothing is burned away, so the wax stays in the jar and only fragrance is lost over time.

Can I leave it running overnight?

Yes, on the 8 hour timer. There is no flame and it switches itself off. Keep it on a stable surface away from fabric.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

It removes the open flame, which is the usual reason for switching, but the shade and bulb area get hot in use and it is glass. Site it out of reach and let it cool before moving it.

Does it work with wax melts?

Yes — a shallow heatproof dish and the pole set low is all it takes. No tealight required underneath.

Can it rescue a tunnelled candle?

It can. Because the whole surface melts rather than just the centre, the wax welded to the sides of the jar levels back out over a session or two.

Is it stable? It sounds top-heavy.

The glass base is the heaviest part, which gives it a low centre of gravity. At 1.29 kg overall it sits solidly and does not shift when you slide a full jar underneath.

Is it bright enough to read by?

No. The light goes down into the candle and the green glass absorbs a good deal of it. It is a glow, not task lighting.

Does it come with a UK plug?

It runs on standard UK mains. Where the supplier confirms the plug type we state it on the listing; if it is not shown, message us before ordering and we will confirm what your unit ships with.

How do I clean pressed glass?

Cool it first, then a soft dry cloth over the surface and a clean dry brush into the moulded pattern, where dust collects. Keep water away from the bulb housing.

Do you deliver, and how long does it take?

Yes, across the UK. Delivery estimates and options are shown at checkout before you pay.

What are the delivery costs?

Free on UK orders of £35 or more, so this lamp qualifies on its own; below that a flat £3.95, shown before you confirm.

Can I return it if it does not suit me?

Yes, in line with our returns policy. Keep the packaging if you can — a lamp that is glass at both ends really does travel best in its original box.

Does it come with a warranty?

A specific warranty length is not confirmed in our product record, so we will not quote one. Your statutory rights apply, and you are welcome to ask us before buying.

Choosing a candle warmer lamp that suits your room

5 min read Emberlight

Candle warmers all do the same job, so the choice between them comes down to how they look on the surface they will occupy for the next five years. Here is how to narrow it down quickly.

Start with the metal already in the room

Look at your door handles, curtain poles, picture frames and light fittings. Most British living rooms lean one of two ways: warm metals (brass, gold, copper) or cool and dark ones (black, chrome, pewter).

A gold-and-wood candle warmer sits beautifully in the first sort of room and looks slightly lost in the second. A matt black lamp does the reverse. If your room is genuinely mixed, the deciding vote goes to whatever is closest to where the lamp will stand.

Then look at the wood

Pale oak and blonde wood bases suit Scandinavian, coastal and modern-neutral rooms. Walnut and darker bases suit older houses, mid-century furniture and rooms with a lot of brown in them. Glass bases, like this one, sidestep the question entirely — which is why they are the safe answer if your furniture is a mixture of eras.

Colour is a commitment, and that is fine

A coloured glass lamp is a decision in a way a neutral one is not. Green works where there is already green — velvet, tiles, a lot of plants, a dark green kitchen — or where the room is otherwise so neutral that one saturated object becomes the point.

Where it does not work is a room with three other accent colours already competing. In that case a clear or amber shade disappears politely into the background, which is sometimes exactly what you want.

Size the lamp to the surface, not to the candle

A 38 cm lamp on a narrow bedside table is a hazard and looks it. A 23 cm lamp on a wide sideboard looks like a sample.

Measure the surface first. Roughly, a lamp should occupy no more than about a third of the depth of what it stands on, and it needs clear air above the shade — never under a shelf or a wall cabinet.

Then check the candle fits: standard jars need very little clearance, but large three-wick tubs need 15 cm or more, and that requirement rules out most of the compact lamps.

Think about where the cable goes

This is the thing nobody considers in the shop and everybody notices at home. A candle warmer is a mains lamp, permanently plugged in. If the only socket is across the room, the lamp will end up somewhere other than where you imagined it.

Look for a surface with a socket behind or beside it, and dress the cable behind furniture rather than over the front edge of a shelf.

The short version

Match the metal that is already in the room, then the wood. Coloured glass suits rooms that already have that colour or almost no colour at all. Size the lamp to the surface — a third of its depth, with air above the shade. And check there is a socket where you actually want it to stand.

Not sure green is the right call?

Describe the room — the walls, the wood, what is already on the shelf — and we will tell you honestly whether the green glass will look deliberate or accidental in it.

Page summary

It fits jar candles up to about 15 cm tall as well as tins and wax melts. There are four brightness levels from 25 to 100 per cent, which also control melting speed and scent strength, and a 2, 4 or 8 hour timer with automatic shut-off and a memory function that recalls the last setting used.
